Chiropractic Treatment for Sciatica Nerve Pain

What is Sciatica?

Sciatica is the irritation of the sciatic nerve known as sciatic nerve pain. The sciatic nerve is the longest and largest nerve in human body starting in the lower back, through the buttock and down the legs into the foot. The sciatic nerve connects the spinal column to the leg and foot muscles. When this system is interrupted we feel pain that can radiate throughout our lower body.

Symptoms of Sciatica: Sciatica usually affects only the one side of the lower body. You may feel pain that starts in the lower back and spreads down one leg. Sometimes it will feel better when moving and may also cause weakness and/or numbness.

Causes of Sciatica: There are many possible causes for Sciatica; such as: degenerative disc disease, lumbar or other herniated discs, isthmic spondylolisthesis (stress fracture), lumbar spinal stenosis, piriformis syndrome, among others.

How to help relieve Sciatic Nerve Pain

Chiropractic treatment is a well-known method that helps relieve sciatic nerve pain problems along with proper exercise. Chiropractic treatment also provides non-surgical, non-medicinal methods for problems like back pain, neck pain, headaches, migraines, pinched nerves, etc.

A properly trained chiropractic doctor like Dr. Scott Jutte with Dickson Chiropractic can use well documented techniques like spinal manipulation (spinal adjustments) to allow better nerve and blood flow throughout the body allowing your body to heal itself. This adjustment is not painful and provides much longer lasting relief than drugs and addresses the problem directly instead of covering it up through medication.

Once adjusted, proper physical exercise will help reduce or eliminate the sciatic nerve pain.

Let the Dickson chiropractic clinic help you reduce or eliminate your pain problems and show you how to properly take care of your body for a long healthy life.
